Lil Nika’s designs are about looking to the future of people and planet always thinking about our kids, both in the short and long term. Not just about how to nurture and help them grow, but also how we leave the planet behind for them. Our products strive for environmental excellence, we aim to use 100% recycled plastic or plastic mixed with biodegradable material, we are highly selective over the processes used to produce and we adopt passive design to stimulate the body and mind.
We are using the MBDC Cradle to Cradle Silver Level as the ultimate goal for all of our products and packaging; we aim to carbon footprint all our products, and to achieve accreditation for our Environmental Management System under ISO14001:2004.
Lil Nika also cares for people through ensuring we conduct our business ethically, safely and with respect for our community, locally and globally. We aim to become a truly sustainable company. A copy of our Environmental and Social Policies can be requested any time through our contact page form.
Our products are made out of recycled plastics that has been carefully selected based on their non-toxicity, cleanliness, flow-rate and then tested post production to meet the relevant toy safety standards. We only purchase from readily available material. We use 100% where possible as we want to avoid mixing of plastics as this will incur on higher air pollution and will not be 100% recyclable.
We purchase recycled polypropelene (PP) that are collected from Japan and processed in China by a Hong Kong manufacturer. They have passed the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) using methods such as screening and wet chemical testings. They are then transformed into our products. Finished products are tested again to meet BS and EN-71 Materials & Toy Safety Standards . This is to ensure that pre and post manufacturing, the original resin was not contaminated. Our products have passed TUV Rheinland Overall Toy Directive, RoHS, and REACH. Our electrical products have achieved CE from HKSTC.
The Disadvantages of recycled plastics
Our appointed plastic engineer has specified that 100% recycled PP will have a 5-10% degradation and tensile reduction in comparison to virgin PP. To overcome this, our manufacturer has added special formula additive of a food grade equivalent to make the plastic less brittle.
